Do you ever wonder why people from your past appear in your dreamtime? People who were not central to your life at that time? People who were but you haven't thought about forever? What if two completely unrelated individuals play a role in the same dream or in two different dreams but in the same night? The message is there if you look for it! Last night, I had one such dream. Two people, my college fieldhockey coach,a respected professor of mine, and a highschool teacher who I never had in class, had few dealings with, and who was only at the highschool for two out of my four years, were in consecutive dreams. How Strange! Well, I thought it strange until I was writing in my journal the dream and the hidden message of the dream came shining through! The first part of the dream: My fieldhockey coach was talking with me about the progress I was making rehabilitating an ankle injury. I was unsure of the progress I was going to make before the end of the season. Her sage wisdom to me was this. You do your job rehabbing and, at the right time, I will do my job determining when you are strong enough mentally and physically to be on the field. This discussion took place in her office. Her office was small and intimate and, for me while in college, always a place where she instilled much faith in my abilities to think clearly and resolve an issue. Later: This highschool teacher was speaking to a gathered group of people waiting for a subway train to appear. His lecture was premised on his premise that all teenagers make unwise decisions. However, it was difficult to follow, illogical and incoherent. The group, in the middle of his lecture, boarded the subway which had pulled up and departed leaving him lecturing to an empty landing. The lecture hall, subways, for me, are always a place of too much hustle and bustle, they are loud and confusing. Working The Dream Through: While writing in my journal, I was able to see clearly. I was always taught to respect teachers for they had more knowledge and were passionate about giving me there best. Indeed, I was taught that you should listen to everyone for there is learning within every story. True. What I wasn’t taught as a child was that you should listen to everyone and then discern for yourself what you want to carry with you from each lesson. This is where dreams do the work for you! From two seemingly unconnected individuals, two unconnected topics and two unconnected scenarios, I gain wisdom and insight. The message is clear: Slow down, calm myself and the chatter that surrounds me and the lesson I need will be right there from my best friend~ the inner child, the inner voice in me known as my soul. Sometimes, dreams seem unconnected and out of synch. When you spend time looking at them, recording them and reviewing them, their hidden messages appear. And, Great insight for your day to day living will be your’s. Who did you dream about last night and, more importantly, what was the message they brought? Add Comment Summer Sleeping.........ahhhhhhhhh. It was one of those GREAT sleeping weather nights last night. Falling asleep, deep under the down comforter with the windows wide open and the crisp air floating in ~ It all lends to a GREAT night’s sleep! I love night’s like this because it seems like my dreams are clear and concise and dream recall comes easily. The Summer Solstice is only two weeks away. Most of us love summer (not all!) but most find it a time of joy and fun-filled events, the days are longer and our ‘cares’ seem a little simpler; a little easier. Dreams during this time adjust accordingly. They can represent our outgoing persona and the social issues that cause us concern. If you actually dream about summer and a summer setting, it can signify a time of growth and development. Note that I say summer dreams “can represent” and summer settings “can signify’. Dream interpretation is as unique as your DNA. What one image in a dream, what one setting in a dream can mean to one person, it may have an entirely different interpretation to another. Here is an example of this: One person has a dream and in it is a beautiful, large, shiny, red apple. One person may think of it as a representation of something wickedly tempting and sinful. Springsteen’s song lyrics “ They say Eve tempted Adam with an Apple…” come to mind. Another person may think of Health & Wellness with the motto “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Still another’s interpretation is one of pure love & joy because when I see an apple I have etched in my memory a beautiful summer afternoon and of a gorgeous mare in a pasture eating, gratefully, an apple my best friend was giving her and the pure love, joy & friendship on both of their faces at the time. Dream Interpretation can be done by a variety of methods. You can interpret a singular dream or look at a collection of dreams to establish the meaning or significance of something. Included in your dream analysis should always be what feeling or emotion did you have as a result of a dream and establish an event in your life that gave you the same feeling or emotion. That event, a similar situation or issues surrounding them that evoked that feeling may have been inlayed into your dream. This is always a good way to look at interpreting a dream or series of dreams. Summer is a great time to look at your dreams. I had a great one last night where I was riding an elephant through a tourist town busy with summer events. I had trouble staying on the elephant and was frustrated that I had to keep getting back on……….until I saw an apple at a sidewalk stand…..and guess what I did with that apple….accomplished sheer friendship with the majestic animal and rode easily thereafter.... It was one of those dreams that I remember so clearly...all the details right there for me to write in my journal. Ahhh....summer dreaming! What have your dreams entailed? See you in The Dream Time! The Moon~ A Natural Aide to your dreams! 03/16/2011
The moon! It speaks to us each in magical ways. It has been the cultivator of lovers. As a natural satellite, it has been the light that guides nomads. It creates calendars. Crops are planted with the moon cycles. It is used extensively for timing in predictive astrology. And, ancient civilizations believed the moon was an integral part to their lives both awake and in dreams. The moon helps activate dreams. The moon is a symbol of the power of our subconscious. It is a powerful tool to be used in your dream work. One such tool is understanding the moon phases. It can be an integral part of how to enhance the mastery of your dream states and maximize your interpretation of your dreams. There are four moon phases to a moon cycle (and each phase has sub-phases as well) For simplicity, we will look at how the four phases symbolize a period of flow~ just like the cycles of life. They are: The New Moon- a time of rebirth, a time of seeding The Crescent Moon- the process of expansion, a time of growth The Full Moon- culmination of the seeds planted during the new moon & . their growth during the crescent moon The Waning Moon- a time of understanding & integrating the lessons of the past three phases One can see how understanding the phases of the moon can have deep and profound impact on your dreams. The seasoned dreamer can cultivate their dreams by using dream aides to help solve problems. Setting the intention of dreaming or further doing dream rituals can easily be enhanced if done in conjunction of a moon cycle. You can set the intention/create a ritual of seeding a solution during a new moon phase. Shift that intention/change that ritual to understanding a process of resolution during the Crescent moon. Intention/Rituals can be set during a Full Moon to having a situation resolved. And, finally, during a waning moon, intentions/rituals can be done to give you a full understanding of the past situation. Another aide that the moon can be is Moon Water. Drinking this will enhance your dreaming. To create Moon Water, place water in direct moon light for at least an hour. For me, I use a large bowl and leave it out over night to be certain that it has been energized by moon beams. To further enhance this idea, combine moon water with a specific phase of the moon in which you want to cultivate your dreaming. In today’s terms, “That’s Double Bonus Points” I have a powerful story of the full moon’s effects on dreams that comes from 7 years ago this month. The telling of that story is for another day. But, I do KNOW how immensely powerful the moon can be and how it can exponentially make us aware of the world around us and in our dreams! We are just about to have a full moon (four days from now). It is said to be closer to the Earth than it’s been in 18 years due to the elliptical orbit pattern. This is known as the lunar perigree but it is commonly known as “SUPERMOON” It is happening, auspiciously, on the day I return to the hands on work of my practice after a medical leave of absence. I’ve been doing a lot to get ready for this: rehabbing to get stronger and taking courses to better serve my clients. I most certainly will be using the moon during this time to culminate those seeds planted over the last month~ both in my waking state but also in my dream state. Are you ready to cultivate your seeds? Will you join me? See you in the Dream time! This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar. Dream Aides: Ways to effectively enhance your dreams; your ability to remember and affect them 03/16/2011
Holisitic healers have been using a variety of aides to help in their healing for centuries. Many of these same aides can be used as tools that will help you discover your dream meanings. This discovery will further help you to make soul designed decisions in your life. A simple example of this is Crystals. Their healing qualities have transcended time. The first known reference to the healing power of certain crystals comes from an Egyptian papyrus dated around 1600BC. This gives directions for their curative use. Use of crystals worn around a sick person's neck were believed to dispel a disease by allowoing it to pass through the crystals and dissipate. In modern time, Crystals are considered to be magnifiers. (They were originally used in radios) By ‘transmitting’ our intentions to enhance our dream state, we can use crystals as dream enhancers. Another example are herbs. Many were known in ancient times for their power to heal. Roman soldiers put mugwort in their sandals to protect their feet against fatigue. Today, Acupunturists use Moxibustion which involves the burning of mugwort to facilitate healing with their patients. Mugwart can be used to enhance dreams as it is believed to open up the third eye~ the door to our dreams. A third example of aides for healing & dream cultivation is use of the moon. The moon has tremendous effect on many forces. It pulls on the tides and pulls on the body. Ancient civiliazations honor the moon through ritual ceremonies. They symbolize the power of the subconscious. Dreams are our subconscious and soul trying to speak to use. The moon has a powerful effect on this as it is the symbol of that subconscious voice trying to speak to us. Can you think about how you could use crystals, mugwart and the moon to enhance your dream time? What effective ways can you do this? There are many aides available to dreamers in addition to these, what do you use? We will continue to explore these, In the meantime, See you in the dreamtime! If I wasn't inspired by holding my journal, if i didn't get excited to pick it up, it was easy NOT to write down my Dreams and by lunch time: Poof, they were gone...those gems of wisedom never to be heard from. My Favorite one is one I enhanced by staining it's pages. If I can make one, You can too! I'll share how to make a tea stained journal that has the aura of whimsical fantasy~ seemingly comes from a place where your dreams do to! Making Your Dream Journal Speak to You: You will Need: Wax Paper, Instant Tea, Boiling Water, Blank Journal Paper, Paint Brush Optional: Shallow Baking Pan ~Separate the pages by placing a sheet of wax paper between each page. ~Brew tea as directed on package & let cool (do NOT Use hot tea!) ~Dip a paintbrush into the tea and paint the pages of your journal. Be Creative! Use more tea where you want the paper to look aged! ~ if you want an over all affect, simply dip the paper into a pan filled with tea ~Dry pages FULLY ~ Repeat for a darker effect on some or all of the pages ~You can experiment by brewing the tea strong or weak as well. Personally, I chose a weakly brewed tea because the lighter pages looked good exquisite with the light toned blue binder of the journal I chose! But, I will go now and try a stronger brew to go with the deep, rich blue journal I just received. (Yes, I luv blue & purple tones!) Don't forget to personalize it with pictures and the use of vibrant pens! Next time we'll work on the WHAT & the HOW to put Your nighttime visions onto Paper!
